Thalia - Marian Rivera : The Marimar Facts

Ok, we all know that Marimar will start airing on GMA Telebabad series this coming August 13, which is lead by Marian Rivera as Marimar and Dingdong Dantes as Sergio. Are we all excited? Of course we are! That’s why you’re reading this post, right? Not unless if you’re only trying to crawl for something.

Ok, let’s go to the point. This blog post has two part, the Spanish (by Thalia) version, and Filipino (by Marian) version, which shows some important facts about the series called… Marimar.

The Spanish Version

  • Marimar was played by Thalia, born on August 26, 1971 in Mexico City
  • She has sold more than 12 million albums worldwide
  • Her musical career started as a vocalist in the Mexican child group Din Din.
  • She also worked as a record producer, composer, songwriter, TV and radio host, fashion designer, magazine editor, and model. (whew)
  • Mundo de Cristal is the name of her first official fan club
  • Thalia means… to blossom.
  • In Greek mythology she was one of the nine Muses, the muse of comedy and pastoral poetry.
  • This was also the name of one of the three Graces.
  • She’s expecting her first child from Tommy Mottolla this September, hopefully a girl.

  • She played the role as a mother of Super Twins teleseries!

  • She won as Best New Female TV Personality in the 2006 PMPC Star Awards for TV.
  • Jay Tablante is lucky enough to get a chance to photo shoot Marian for this series
  • Marian likes dancing and listening to music
  • Marian’s favorite locale actress is Sharon Cuneta
  • She likes reading the book entitled “He Is Not Into You”
  • Marian may refer to Blessed Virgin Mary

  15. For those who really watched the original, you can’t help but compare. And you would actually say that the Filipino version Marimar has a lackluster quality. They should have remake another Mexican series, ’cause Thalia’s exotic beauty is doubtlessly incomparable. Adding to the disappointment, it is so obvious from their compared pictures above that the Marimar dummy is no match. (Marian still has make-up on and a fair skin despite being a along-the-beach-raised girl [already a discrepancy])

    Thanks to Katrina Halili’s casting, one have a reason to watch the series. She has a perfect antagonist aura one would watch for. They have a consolation for that.

    On the other hand, yes, Marian’s reprise acting passed; but in showbusiness these days face value surpasses acting itself. You should have both extraordinary looks and the best acting skills to establish a long-term fame.

    To conclude, for those who has an eye for a good film, a remake is said to be succesful if it surpasses the quality of the original one. But this one [so-called Marimar] is nothing better. If the lead character is a junk, the whole film’s quality is a garbage.

    But I guess the mass [people], still anticipates. Perhaps, local TV series fanatics would love to watch anything offered under the sun, ain’t it?

    P.S. That is a crucial attempt to compare their pictures [Thalia&Marian]. Now, that was hilarious.

  20. I think Marian is the best choice for Marimar, eventhough she’s the second choice. I didn’t see the original so I cannot compare the two, maybe we should not compare them. For someone who just started acting, Marian is actually doing exceptionally well, my opinion. (I studied acting in NYU, but that does make me an expert). but don’t you think it’s still way too early to make a comparison. Marimar is supposed to be childlike, and Marian is consistent in portraying that role. k. Halili is so good with her role, R gomez is also great and Dingdong reminds me of Gabby Concepcion. I just have to say that I love the Filipino Marimar, and stop comparing and just enjoy it.

  38. Marian is the best local Thalia and GMA has found a goldmine indeed. Angel Locsin paled in comparison to her. Marian exudes both innocence and sensuality to portray Thalia. She’s a mestiza too so no doubt she got the role. For a newcomer, she’s exhilarating to watch.   41. This is the reason why we will never make it to international superstardom regarding telenovelas. For the truth is, our Philippine tv networks have not yet produced a single TELENOVELA. All they have are tons of exaggerated and annoying garbage teledramas and it never will help our country thrive. GMA 7 has been earning millions but they never try to educate the audience. They still use the same pattern, style, angles, texture and most importantly, lighting. Even Zaido is a major disappointment.
