Renaldo Lapuz: A True Pinoy

Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 9:48 am | In Feature |

Watch Renaldo Lapuz from Reno NV. He is a true pinoy. Why? Just click the URL below.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07l70kley7U

Renaldo is a true entertainer. He is a true singer. He is a good example of sportsmanship and family member. And most of all, he gave a good smile to everyone instead of being pissed.

What more, he knows his limit and even he was given a big NO, he still left a good word for Simon (who rejected him) unlike other people who bastardly cursed or begged Simon for a second chance.

Renaldo need our support and testimonial from what he did so we can lift his ego because he deserves to be in American Idol final participants! Renaldo knows himself and he’s here to entertain us.

We salute you Renaldo, and until this moment, you are the star of my life.

(By the way, this is the english version of Kengkay’s post. I was totally inspired from what she had written. Thanks for sharing!)

I am your brother
Your best friend forever
Singing the songs
The music that you like
We’re brothers til the end of time
Together forever til the end of time
I am your brother
Your best friend forever
Singing the songs
The music that you like
We’re brothers til the end of time
Together or not, you’re always in my heart
Your hurting feelings
Will reign no more.

– Original Lyrics composed by Renaldo Lapuz (which was inspired by Brothers&Sisters song)

Simon you are a great person.

You give chance to everyone to sing to the whole world. I thank you.
You are heaven’s chosen to give chance to any talent for free of charge.

Even they throw you negative words, but there are many people who really like you, who really admire you.
One of them is me, you are a great person, Simon.

– Final words of Renaldo Lapuz after hearing the result of his American Idol application.

Renaldo is obviously Filipino. Couldn’t you recognize his accent?

“Simon, you are a great person. You give chance to any talent to sing FOR FREE OF CHARGE.”

I love Renaldo. I am very proud of him and not ashamed. He actually showed the resiliency of the Filipino in the midst of adversity (he didn’t get in). He also showed true Filipino characteristics like love of family, friends, being gracious and joyful, and the gift of looking at the good instead of focusing on the bad (his admiration for Simon and just having a chance to perform on AI). Amazing.

— From annielise of Pinoy Exchange Forums.

At first, I was kinda hoping that: “omg, i hope he’s not pinoy, please let him not be pinoy, please god!” But, by the end of the audition, despite being in despairs, I was cheering for the guy.

– From meeya, a fellow Blogger

O……….k, laugh at the Filipino guy why don’t we. Renaldo Lapuz, anyone catch him on American Idol? DH and I were laughing so hard yet I realized that he might actually be making some Pinoys proud. A little bit of fame, why not? And his own composition at that, hey. Simon’s right, I’d bet his song becomes popular. Yes, even if it is to laugh at him.

And the sad part? Renaldo was crying at the end because he was so thankful that he could sing in front of them. HOW HUMBLING IS THAT? I actually felt so bad for him–although I know he had nothing but good things to say about his experience. He had absolutely no clue.

– From Jen, a fellow Blogger

You may also view/hear alinamusix’s video response, it’s really entertaining. Here’s her picture together with her lyrics. She’s great and she’s my new YouTube idol together with HappySlip! You may also visit Alina’s mySpace account to hear more of her music.

)

I am your sister, your best friend forever.
Singing the song that music that you love.

We are sisters till the end of time, together or not your always in my heart.
You hurt your feelings, and it will reign no more.

You are my brother, my best friend forever.
Singing the song the music that you like.

We are brothers till the end of time.
Together forever always in my heart.
You hurt your feelings, it will reign no more.

No more, no more…

I am your sister, You are my brother.
You hurt your feelings, will reign no more.

– Alina’s inspired composition titled “I am your Sister”

  10. Even though I’m sure Renaldo will no longer have a chance to be part of the competition, I have no doubt that we will see him again in the finale to Season 7. They usually call on the auditioners that made the best impression on the very last episode of the season. I’m sure he’ll be given a chance to sing once again.

And I’m sure we’ll see even more of him elsewhere. It’s obvious that he can sing, and sing powerfully well. If William Hung can be given a recording contract, and he doesn’t really sing all that well, I’m sure Renaldo will have his own, I have no doubt about that.

Oh yeah! I also made a video tribute to him on the link on my name. :D

foo: thanks for the visit gerry! your videos are really entertaining. ^_^ i really like the jokes from your dad, hehe

  13. To all nay-sayers about Renaldo and to those who are ashamed of him, you should be the ones who be ashamed of yourselves! He is simple and humble and have a child-like innocence in him. His song and performance promotes LOVE, BROTHERHOOD and WORLD PEACE! What is to be ashamed of that? He just contributed something to the world in spite of his being simple.

Before you say anything negative about this guy… think to yourselves… have you ever done anything that made an impact to the world? THIS GUY DEFINITELY IS DOING THAT! And besides i think those nay-sayers are just envious because this guy is going to EARN BIG BUCKS by doing his stint!

foo: thanks for the visit ariel!

  26. Tawa ako ng tawa nang napanood ko si Renaldo- nawala lahat ng stress ko. After that I felt so proud of Renaldo for his guts and for singing a song (his own composition) with a very powerful message of brotherhood. Simon was right- Renaldo was very entertaining. His performance in the American Idol audition had such a great impact that everybody is talking about him (Filipinos and non-Filipinos alike).
Mabuhay ka, Renaldo, and God bless you!!!Maraming humahanga at nagmamahal sa ‘yo.

foo: tama ka dyan muye! haba ng comment mo, lalo akong nag enjoy. ^^

  27. I heard Alina’s “You Are My Sister,” her video response to Renaldo’s “You are my Brother” at You Tube.I had goose pimples while listening because it was such a beautiful interpretation of the song. It’s amazing how a simple melody can have such a lovely interpretation. It has great potential for a recording, I hope someone in the recording industry watches it and, perhaps have Renaldo and Alina do a duet, as one blogger suggested. Panoorin nyo si Alina sa You Tube (Alinamusix’s video response)para makita nyo how Renaldo has become so positively infectious.

foo: ako loves ko voice ni alina. ^^ pati rin si happy slip. mga youtube idols ko yan eh. ^^

  30. The popularity of this song lies in this irony: the funny circumstances of its birth belies a serious message that pulls on the heartstrings. Its message of brotherhood and peace comes at a time when war and conflict separates humanity. This song is like a thumb-on-the-nose on war and its utter childishness. But the funny thing is, instead of laughing, I actually cry when I hear the song, especially the ballad versions. Ironic, isn’t it? This should be made the world’s anthem. Let’s spread the tune for its sheer message.

Note on the troublesome 9th line:
Actually, several versions are found elsewhere on the internet–”Your hurting feelings will reign no more” and “You hurt your feelings and you will rain on mine.” They make the most sense and are more poetic. Take your pick. I prefer the first. How about you?

foo: thanks trina for your thoughts. wer are you from again?
